Why Montessori ?
The Montessori approach was founded by Dr. Maria Montessori; an educator and the first Italian female physician. Dr. Montessori founded Casa Dei Bambini (Children's House) in 1907 and developed her theory on learning, The Montessori Method. This child-centered approach to learning came to America in 1912 and quickly grew in popularity.
The Montessori method promotes independence and self-confidence within children. It allows children to take ownership of their learning. Children are not compared to one another or to a standard.

The Montessori philosophy is a simple one:
"Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.” - Dr. Maria Montessori
